Weekly Tip #1 – Watch the Bottom of Their Tires!

In line with my goal of making personal security approachable, practical, and relatable for every day life, I want to put out a tip on a weekly basis that might help make your life a little bit easier.

For this week we’re taking a look at driving.

The Tip

Whenever you come to a stop behind another vehicle, always make sure that you can see the bottom of the rear tires of the car in front you.

If you can the bottom of their tires, then you are guaranteed to have enough space to turn your steering wheel and pull out from behind the car in front without hitting them.

While this is often taught as an evasive driving technique, I have found it to be helpful in daily life on numerous occasions.

Did the car in front of you die? You’ve got space to pull around – and hopefully help.

Stuck in highway traffic and want to get onto the exit ramp? You’ve got space to pull around.

Find yourself in the wrong traffic lane at an intersection? You’ve got space to pull around!

And if you should ever find yourself stopped behind another car and feel unsafe about your location or situation… you’ve built up the habit of leaving yourself space to pull around.

Personal security isn’t just about staying safe from harm – it’s also about making life easier on yourself by being prepared for even the everyday inconveniences life sends us.

Watch the bottom of their tires!
